Breathing had become a little easier now, and Kiri felt as if she could actually comprehend what was going on around her. A girl was leaning over her, her cool hand stroking Kiri's face. Hey... she thought fuzzily, isn't that Emiliano's friend? She tried to sit up, but her vision started spinning immediately. Doing that was, apparently, not a good idea. She sunk down onto the table again. She wanted to know what was going on, but there were frantic movements and loud noises all around her.

But something wasn't right... Coldness was creeping up her clothes again. She moved her fingers. They touched water again. "What..." she mumbled through blue lips, and then someone was pulling her upwards rapidly. She felt queasy again right away, but pressed her lips close together. The Great Hall swung into view. Kiri's eyes widened in shock. The House tables were almost completely gone now, submerged beneath the waters. Everywhere, students were jumping into the waters. Most of them were heading for the Entrance Hall. Kiri could see a few brooms whizzing past overhead, too.

Emiliano had picked her up, and it looked as if he was going to jump, too. Carrying her?! She would be too heavy for him! "No, Emiliano, don't..." she said, but then she could feel him move, and with a splash, they were in the water again. She clung to his back as tightly as she could, trying, at the same time, to make herself weightless. Of course, that was something Kiri couldn't do, and Emiliano was clearly struggling.

Then someone behind her was pulling on her. For a horror-struck moment, Kiri thought it was another Grindylow, but Emiliano let her go, and then she was being carried by a new person. He - it was a man, broad-chested and tall - moved through the floods much easier than Emiliano had. Kiri stared in utter surprise. Professor Lawson was, apparently, her personal rescuer.
Water swirled over her, and she had to try to keep her head above water, but she was safe now. The professor, she decided light-headedly, deserved a present of sorts. A big one.
