Not even to Katie. "I'll let you know when Operation: Legend-Meets-The-Giant-Squid is a go," Katie promised, quiet to avoid any unwanted easedropping from any students that might be walking in their direction. She beamed at the happy thought, her face lighting up like a five-year-olds in a candy store, imagining the future event in her head. It's SPLASH, Legend. SPLAT means we missed the water! She wasn't sure why, but the first summer she had spent away from home for a few days with her sister, where she had met the Chosen boy, a certain memory from it played as well.
She was quick to snap out of her trance-like state, hearing but not truly grasping Samantha's question until she silently repeated it to no one but herself. The old, fond, childish memory of an ALMOST adorable little blonde haired, green eyed boy vanished into a sea of bitterness. Kaitlynnh scowled, "Do you know any other Katie's in our family, or even any other First Year's here by the name of Katie?" She asked, her sarcasm hitting a high. It was touching on the rude side, teeter-tottering there on the edge. Legend, even the mention of him, tended to bring out her bottled up frustrations. "Yes me, not talking to him." She stared, dark eyed up at the Seventh year, trying to find an answer to that.
What had Legend done? She couldn't remember the original reason, the first thing to bring on this 'I'm-not-talking-to-you' phase, but it was something. And continued to build, like feeding fuel to a burning fire. It wasn't hard for Legend to do that, or one of the other two boys to do it for him. Deciding to go the simple route, Katie shrugged, "We faught a lot right before september, mostily thanks to him leaving me in Diagon Alley when we were suppose to stay together. Did some other stuff at the beginning of the school year. . haven't really talked to him since," the girl said, once again choosing to glare at the cold, stone corridor floor; hopefully it didn't look like she was addressing it, too.
As Sam and Will mentioned something vague about Mr. Masterson and something not quite right there, Katie took a deep breath to soothe her irritation and return with a softer gaze than the one she had fixed on the ground. "I kinda got that much," She interrupted when Sam explained the obvious, why the parchment had been blank. Had been, being the keyword here. Again, she slipped into silence, for a whole two seconds. "So what, you expect me to not sneak up on you if you have an open bottle of ink laying around?" Katie questioned, looking skeptical. Chyeah right! Atleast the Gryffindor could dream, and count down the days until she would be freed of the rugrat army.
She snickered at Will's comment on behaving, which quickly turned to muffled laughter as she pressed her palms to her lips, finding Sam's unexpected reaction towards the large, hairy creature to be rather hilarious indeed. "I think," Katie tried calming herself, and managed to get out the rest, "it's a tarantula." Quote:

He didn’t know Legend well enough to know what to think of the guy, he seemed cool but every time Will cam over he’d be called Willyboy. Only one person called him that Professor Bunbury. He didn’t like being called names, even cute fuzzy names. He liked to be called William or Will plain and simple. He remembered almost threatening the last person who had dared to call him something different.
Clearing those thoughts from his mind he glanced at Sammy who suddenly looked terrified. For a moment he couldn’t figure out why but then he remembered taking his tarantula out and putting it into its cage. “Oh, that’s Goldie. She’s okay, won’t bite. You’re not scared of her are you?” He couldn’t help but ask, a teasing smile appearing on his face. If she was, well there was nothing he could really do about it at this moment. Goldie was safe in his bag now and there was no way he'd take her out until he got back to his dorm.
Katie didn’t seem fazed at all by the appearance of Goldie. In fact she almost seemed at ease with it. That girl was stranger than he thought, strange but in a good, cool way. He didn’t know what to think of her anymore, she always changed when she was around him. He could trust her though and that was saying something since the only people at Hogwarts he could trust were a few professors. Shoving his hands into his pocket he slouched a bit against the wall, not realizing a picture had fallen out of it as he dug around for a loose frog. Sammy couldn't help but roll her eyes at her cousin. "I don't think Auntie Lorraine would appreciate much, you pushing sweet Legend into the lake." she smiled innocently. Katie was bound to love that comment. For some reason the two argued more than an old married couple. Married couple, hmmmmm...
Jeeze. This girl had an attitude! "Dude, there are so many people in our family. I can't keep track. There very well may be another Katie." she retorted. How Vannah dealt with her, Sam would never know. She listened as the Hufflepuff began to explain why she wasn't talking to Legend. But she didn't seem to know herself. "So you can't actually pinpoint why you're not talking to him? You're just not talking to him because he did something that you can't even remember?" she raised an eyebrow at her. First years. They were a weird bunch this term.
And the girl was at it again. "Dude! Who taught you to be so sarcastic?" She scowled. "I rather you not sneak up on me at all! Especially when I have have an open bottle of ink laying around." Brat.
Then she remembered William was standing a few inches away from them. He was probably the only boy...what was she thinking? William is the only boy Katie got along with. Besides Jae, but then again the only thing you can get in argument with that boy was Gaelic Football. She was going to have to ask him how she could get along with the girl.
Glancing at the spider in the "cage", Sam tried to remain calm. "It's looking at me. Why is it looking at me? Wait...no it really is looking at me. Crap!" Taking her eyes off the "thing", she turned her attention back to William. "No I'm not scared." she lied. She was flipping terrified! "You named it Goldie?" It sure wasn't a gold fish.
She then rolled her eyes. Of course Katie had a remark. "Thank you for your brilliance Mae. I never would have guessed it was a tarantula." The girl was pushing her patience. Patience she didn't have. Maybe it was time Katie went into the lake.
Noticing something fall from William's pocket, Sam reached down to pick it up. "Hey Will, you dropped something." she said. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed it was a picture of a man. A man that looked strangely familiar. "Who is that?" she asked curiously.
