The one quill he'd managed to save from the flooding. It was knackered. "Hello, Clifford! You know, I don't think I've had the chance to congratulate you on being chosen as the Head Boy, so congratulations!" He sat up straight from leaning backwards on his hands and offered a hand to shake. "As for our surroundings, you might say that..." Quote:

Miss, don't you see the sun is out?" Ian chuckled as he pointed to his window. It may not have been the brightest of sunny days, as it was Winter, but at least there was some light. Quote:

"Uhm...good day, professor." Then her eyes glanced back and forth between him and the ink bottles a few times before she added, "Uhm...may I ask what is up with those?" Was it rude to just ask like that? No, right? "Good day," Ian said smirking. It seemed the students were rather astute today! "You may ask, but I might not answer..." Ian said, trailing off. "Things will be made clear, soon enough." Quote:

Well anyways, Charms was fun fun funnn! Cam walked into the classroom, with all of his belongings and his wand especially. "Haiiiiii Professah Ashby," Cam greeted. But something was different. The whole classroom looked like... a circus. A circus of quills and bottles of ink.
Yup. "Hi there, Cameron!" Ian said to the boy. This kid had always been one who was incredibly enthusiastic about Charms, which was very encouraging to the still rookie professor. "It's good to see you again!" Quote:

"Yes, you are seeing things clearly, young lady," Ian said. "And hello to you!" Quote:

Interesting...no doubt they had another unique lesson in store for them today. Ian couldn't help but chuckle at the reactions his classroom was getting. This was Hogwarts! Did they honestly expect to not see things like this during their days? Quote:

"Sir," greeted Daphne simply, glancing down at the Professors swinging feet.
He was peculiar as usual, she thought as she took a seat. "Ma'am," Ian said, greeting the young girl with a nod. Quote:

Leticia said, very quietly as she took out her own writing stuffs and an empty notepad. If this school got any stranger, it might just drive Lettie bonkers, a good bonkers though...that or force her parents to drag her away. "Hi Professor Ashby," she said as she sat down carefully, trying to avoid the quills and ink bottles scattered about. It would be interesting to see how they'd tie into the lesson, although, something told her they just might be using charms to either move them, untie them, etc., etc. Who knew, though. She simply just sat still and quiet while she waited for the professor to start the lesson. "What, no 'hello,' Head Girl?" Ian questioned, chuckling. As soon as she'd made her way a few steps into the classroom, she stopped. What the... it looked like someone had let loose the First Years with a bunch of quills and ink and sticky charms. Curiously, she blinked and looked around her, eying the ink wells as she made her way towards the center of the room, where Willow was seated. The look of blissful ignorance was just too weird.
Sliding into a seat to Willow's right, Issy nodded at the Professor. "Good day, Professor," she greeted him in a chirpy voice, pulling her rucksack into her lap. "Rather... urm... interesting take, on interior decorating, I see." Then, she turned to her left to address Willow.
"Tell me you're not curious," she stated, arching her brows into her fringe. "There's ink wells stuck all about and you're just sitting here, so nonchalantly." "Oh, thank you!" Ian chimed. AHHHH SHARP NEEEEDLEEEEE! IT WAS FACING RIGHT DOWN AT HIM!!! Kind of freaking out, he scooted over to another desk, one that wasn't right below a quill but away from the head girl (who was, frankly, kind of scary), away from Willow (he had always been embarrassed around her since the little incident). He plopped himself in a seat near Raisin and twiddled his thumbs, waiting for the lesson to begin. Perhaps Ian should have hung the quills point side up? Quote:

Cordova was the type of student that got embarrassed easily if something went wrong or if he said something that made him sound unintelligent. To his understanding it was the best and safest seat in the room. He placed his bag on top of the table and slid his thin frame into the chair without really having to move the chair outward a lot. Not knowing whether he would need to take notes or not, he placed his hands on the top of his bag and waited for more instructions. "Hello there, young man." Ian smiled at the boy who seemed somewhat quiet. He hoped he would be able to make the boy feel comfortable in Charms. Quote:

Golden eyes scanned the classroom for an open spot, preferably around the middle of the room. Upon spotting Willow, Dominic was about to sidle his way over to the seat next to her when some other girl - younger Ravenclaw and clear friend of Willow's - took the spot to her right. Sighing, he then half smiled when the seat to her left was still available. As if waiting for him.
Quickly strolling over to the seat on her left, he plopped his bag down next to the seat and then slipped into the chair and awaited to see what this lesson of insanities would bring. When Dominic Denton entered the room and took a seat, Ian spoke up, taking it as his queue to start, since there seemed to be no one behind him. "Class, attention please!" he shouted, attempting to quell the loud murmur of the room. "We will begin."
He used his arms to push himself off of his desk and attempted to kick his legs so he could make a smooth hop down. Unfortunately, his wife had been a lovely chef over the summer break and had fed him well. You know what that means.
THUD!
Instead of sticking the landing...or even launching himself, Ian managed to instead roll off the desk and hit the floor. But it was no matter. Ian was able to make fun of himself, and chuckled as he stood up and brushed himself off. "Welcome to Charms lesson one, everyone!" He allowed time for applause, but none came. "For you first years, my name is Ian Ashby, but please call me Professor Ashby. For you older students, welcome back! I'm happy to see you all returning. "Now then, I'm sure you've all noticed my choice of interior decoration. I have two questions for you: One - What do you think of it? And two - why do you think I've chosen quills and ink bottles for this particular lesson?" |
