Chapter Nineteen – Mia Gets Detention
“I seriously can’t believe you got detention tomorrow, Mia.” said James, “It looks like I’m rubbin’ off on ya!”
“I guess you’re doomed in the future then, Mia.” said Keely, playing Wizard’s chess with Remus.
“So what are you doing for detention?” asked Lily
“I have to clean the trophy room.” said Mia
“That doesn’t sound so bad.”
“Without magic.”
“Ooh, that’s rough. buddy.” said Sirius
“And Filch is watching me do it, too! That guy is so creepy!”
“Just ignore him,” said Peter, “He’s just bitter because nobody here follows his stupid rules.”
“I don’t exactly blame him for being so angry.” said Meg, “If I had just finished cleaned the floors after hours of scrubbing and some little bugger came in and tracked mud all over the place, I’d be pretty peeved too.”
“That’s because you’re a chick.” said a fifth year boy nearby.
“Would a ‘chick’ stab a fifteen-year-old idiot with her piercing equipment?” asked Jennifer, not looking up from her book.
The fifth year chuckled and looked back at his work. The group could have sworn they had heard him call Jennifer a ‘Goth freak’. Jennifer ignored him
“You do your own piercings?” asked Peter
“Yup. I gotta get it done somehow.”
“Doesn’t it hurt or get infected?”
“Not if you’ve been doing it as long and as much as I have. I have a friend from a piercing shop that taught me how to do it correctly.”
“Can we please get back to my detention problem please?” asked Mia, “I don’t know how McGonagall expects me to get all those trophies cleaned, without magic I remind you, before curfew!”
“Maybe you could sneak a little magic here and there when Filch isn’t looking.” said Sirius
“I would if I could, but Filch will be keeping my wand at the time. McGonagall also told me all the other things I have to do for the rest of the week! Tomorrow I clean the trophy room, Wednesday I have to scrub the floors, Thursday I’m helping Hagrid tend to the sick animals for that Care of Magical creatures class, Friday I’m helping Sprout with her plants, Saturday I’m gutting frogs for Slughorn, Sunday I’m cleaning the bedpans for the Hospital Wing, and on Monday she’s having me do lines because she feels that I would be too tired to do anything else after doing all those things! I have to do all of that just because I punched out Regulas!”
“That’s insane!” said Jennifer
“The rule for no fighting must be a pretty big rule.” said Remus
