But what had happened in the three broomsticks was completely different to what was expressed on that paper. Brushing her hands against her eyes, Vannie sighed. Things could not get worse.
The professor, while still beyond angry at the sight of the saddened prefect, knew that now was not the time to dwell on the subject. Too many people were around. Besides, after last term, she knew that if Vannie needed comforting, she'd come to her.
She picked up the discarded parchment and rolled it up. After shoving it in her pocket (much harder than necessary) she turned to face her. "Miles trusts you, Vanessa." It was all she said before continuing to the sandbox, leaving her behind to compose herself.

The professor's relationship with Jake seemed to be a complicated one, but Kiri doubted very much that this was something she'd be very pleased with, maybe even more so than Gingersnapple's real owner.
Where had that cat ran off to? Jake wasn't around anymore either, at least not as far as Kiri could tell, but maybe she should... go and tell them that she had been there as well for a while? Not to mention that such an approach would also make sure she wouldn't be in trouble later if someone else said something along the lines of, "Oh, I saw Starstalker with the cat earlier." No, best not to let it come to that.
She got up, brushing some sand off her robes, and wandered over to the students standing with the professor.
"Hello, Professor Morgan," she said timidly when she'd reached them. "Hi Vanessa, Simone. I... er, sorry, I didn't mean to eavesdrop, but are you looking for Gingersnapple? It's just... he was here earlier!"
"Hello Kiri!" The professor said brightly.
'Just here' This was good news! "Kiri, would you mind helping us find him?" She asked. What a welcomed addition to their search party. Without waiting for her answer, Iliana leaned forward and whispered,
"Is he pink?"
