Looking at him steadily for a while, she slightly moved, swinging their entertwined fingers for a moment. "This," she said in a whisper. The fact that it felt so right. And how she didn't want him to be worried or anything.
She blinked when he suddenly took her other hand as well, momentarily glancing down at it before he spoke again. And then her green eyes went back to his, as she quietly listened to what he said. It was odd, but right at that exact moment, other than the fact she had to remind herself to breathe, it was like her nervousness had vanished. And she just wanted him to feel the same way. When he finished speaking, she squeezed his hand a bit before smiling. Taking a deep breath of her own, she spoke. "Yes." She paused, trying to keep looking at him but feeling herself starting to flush faintly again. "I like you more than just being friends too," she confessed softly, closing her eyes as she tried to get it out. "I don't really know if I could just pretend I didn't." She knew there were so many reasons why she shouldn't feel that way, but it didn't change anything. She was just going to hope the important people understood.
Robert looked up as Liz did and held her gaze his eyes glancing down as she swung there hands and a small smirk crept onto his face. Looking back up he understood what she meant and he agreed. There was no way they would go back to how they were if, merlin forbid, something happened. But...he was tired of taking minimal risks with no pay off. Yeah he had cared for Mari, okay...well more than simply cared for her but Liz and him had always been closer. She had helped him through his issues had been there always, even this summer and the beginning of the term when he was being practically a recluse. Looking at her now he knew that though it was a risk...this was one he wanted to take.
Hearing her repeat the words he said a smile crept to his face and turned into a larger grin. "I don't think I could either." Though if she had said otherwise he would have done his damndest to try. Letting go of her hands he cupped her face in his hands and stared into her eyes. He couldn't have been happier really. "This...could prove interesting." He smirked and moved closer, "Though I like it. A lot." Leaning in fully he kissed her again.
