Sand. If there was one [non-living] thing, on the face of Earth, that Fyodor Balouch loved as much as Arithmancy, it was sand. Sand with its crunchy, powdery feel; sand with its sparkling, brown-to-white hue; and sand that slipped through your fingers when you scooped it up in your hands, and grazed the soles of your feet when you walked along the beach, as the sun went down in hazy orange, light.
