It felt good not to be so alone. When Piper perched herself drowsily on the windowsill, Wes forced his fists into the pockets of his slacks.
“Yeah well … I’m a good actor apparently.” He muttered more under his breath than anything. It felt more like he was reminding himself that it wasn’t real than her. He didn’t want to be pushy, or make this situation any more complicated … Where did that come from? Of course you want to make it worse! A stronger part of his mind reminded him. He loved drama, and he loved getting involved. What did it matter if he stepped on Emiliano a bit? Piper was an amazing girl. Why shouldn’t he try to woo her a bit? He deserved to be happy too. Maybe she would be happy with him! She could get over Emiliano. She said it herself! He can’t make up his mind! Another voice pointed out wickedly.
“What?” Wes demanded in disgust. He glared down at her. “Don’t get all self deprecating on me. You are amazing. Any guy should be lucky to have you, and don’t you forget it. Stop comparing yourself to other girls. You can’t do it fairly. You are different people, and no one will ever measure up to someone else. We aren’t supposed to anyway. Everyone should be different.” Sure, Evolette and Karma were stunning. Both of them. He adored Evolotte, but she was nothing like Piper. His feelings for both were infinitely different. Evolotte was stunning, but so was Piper. It was just different. It should be different.
"Do you want to go see the nurse? Maybe she can do something about your head." Wes suggested, trying to keep the concerned note from his voice.
Piper watched Wes as he stood by her, she watched as he shoved his fists into his pockets and she sighed a bit more. Part of her, a very big part wanted to hold out her hand to him, and ask him to hold it. She studied him, wondering how this had happened, only a week ago she had been crazy for Emiliano, and then Wes had come into her life, and seemed to have turned it upside down. She knew so much more about him, than she had ever known about Em, something that scared her a little bit.
If you like someone, shouldn't you want to know more about them? She asked herself, yet it seemed like she had spent all of her time with Em, apologizing for getting in the way of him and Karma..
Piper leaned her head back onto the windowsill, closing her eyes for a second and attempting to make the world stop spinning. She pulled her legs up, so she was all on the windowsill now, and she opened her eyes to look over at Wes, a smile on her face as he was now still and not moving. "Yes, you are a brilliant actor, you should go into the field." She joked with him. "Have you ever thought about acting? I'm sure you would be brilliant at it." Piper said with a smile. After all, he had almost convinced her, and she was in on the plan. She was super curious to know more about him, and she knew that she would be asking him questions, all under the guise of "knowing him well" cause he was her fake boyfriend.
Piper smiled a bit bitterly as Wes spoke but she nodded. " I know, that we are all supposed to be different, but somehow being around those two, I feel like they are Cinderella and I am the ugly stepsister or something." She gave him a half of a smile. " Any guy huh?" She asked with a slight shake of her head.
Would you be lucky? Would you even want me? She asked in her head, her eyes on his face. She was lost in thought so she almost didn't hear his last few words.
"No, I don't think the nurse will help a whole lot, part of the reason that I fainted, is that I haven't eaten in three days. The whole Em, Karma thing, had me pretty stressed, last night was the only night I got any sleep for about a week or so.." Piper sighed, as she put out her hand to Wes, before she could stop herself. " I think I just need some food, and somewhere to relax." She smiled up at him
