As chaos erupted all around Jack, he stood as still as possible on his lily pad, hardly daring to breathe as he watched everything going on around him. First, Reese almost DIED, and Jack was very close to jumping off of his pad (never mind the fact he can't swim) in an act of chivalry to save her, but she ended up alright in the end. THEN the groundskeeper had shown up, and Bunbury was obviously not happy about this. Why was that? Jack had always like Masterson, he seemed pretty cool when you weren't touching his dirt.
Desperate to get out of this pond, he took the next three lily pads quickly, jumping from one to the other without hardly stopping. It was easier this way, he had discovered, although the only reason he had decided to do this was to get out of the lily padded area before someone accidentally knocked him into the water and killed him. With one last bounding leap, he landed on solid ground next to Herminny and Fyo.
"YESSSSSSS! I'm ALIVEEEEE!" he cried, pumping a fist in the air as he collapsed on the ground, enjoying his deep breaths as he regained his composure. That was, by far, one of the scariest things he had encountered at Hogwarts. Oh yes. And he was not about to go do it again, thank you very much.
As he grabbed the Professor's handout, he found that he had accidentally gotten two parchments as well. As he turned to hand it back to Bunbury, he realized that it was definitely NOT homework, but a gossip column of some sort. Hmmm. Standing there, mid action pose as he held out his arm to give it back, he quickly snatched it away before the professor had a chance to realize what had happened and stuffed it in his bag. Hehe.
