Jack looked at the professor with a confused look upon his face. Having missed most of the commotion that had happened between her and some little Huffie boy, he shrugged and looked back down at his lily pad. Alright, they could all be distracted if they wanted--HE was going to take this open window of opportunity to cross, unharmed and without falling in again.
His next lily pad was to his right. He thanked Merlin that Bunbury was distracted--perhaps he could get along without a blindfold? That would be beyond marvelous. He stretched out his leg and stood on the right lily pad, so that he was essentially straddling in between the two. Now, just the other leg and he'd be another step closer...
Except, the pad under his right leg started to wobble and move around in the water, much to Jack's dismay. He let out a yelp as his hands swung around in the air violently, attempting to keep his balance. He finally yanked his left foot away from his previous lily pad and put both feet firmly on the right one, regaining his balance after a minute or two. That had been a close one!
