Jack took a deep breath and nodded. She was right--if Reese really DID like him, it surely wasn't the end of the world, right? Right. He could learn to deal with this. He nodded. "Yeah, you're right. He had really been planning on his love life to start you know--after he made it to Mars but hey, who knew when that would be right?
"Darn," he said with a frown, sighing. He had been hoping that was the ticket to understanding Reese. Boooo. "So...do you think I should like--let on that I know she likes me? And what if she doesn't? What if she really just thought it was cute I liked Astronomy...nothing else?" he asked. It was official. Anna was his love guru.
"That'd be right, Jack. Relax. She's a girl, you're a boy...these things happen," she said, with a knowing smile. She could tell this realization had hit the poor boy by surprise. He'd probably come to school this year expecting to be met with the challenges of the next Astronomy or Ancient Runes lesson, not the dilemna of a possible love life. Maybe this girl, whoever she may be, would help Jack socially, too. He had mentioned wanting to get out and meet more people...make new friends. Maybe she'd sort of help him come out of his shell a bit more. "I tell you what. Walk with me back to the Common Room, as it's getting late, and we'll discuss the matter some more. I still want to know who this Mystery Girl is, you know..."
