Jack blinked. Anna hadn't seemed to realize he was there as she read her letter aloud to herself. Well, he had certainly been right about her writing to Cale. Two straight hours? That was ambitious. Jack really wished he had walked into her a few seconds later. This was definitely embarrassing. For some reason, even though he knew that SHE was the one who should be embarrassed right now, he felt really embarrassed and awkward too. As long as she didn't tell Cale he had walked in on her letter writing--Cale was a much more muscular bloke than him, and he was pretty sure he would kill him.

Flooded dungeons? HA. That had definitely NOT been what he had heard a few seconds ago. "Oh, yeah, right--sad about that, isn't it?" he asked. He thought about all the Slytherins he seemed to have met since term started, and how unfortunate it was that they didn't have a place to sleep anymore. Well, they DID, but it wasn't THEIR dorm. He knew that he personally would feel weird if he couldn't sleep in his own bed for Merlin knew how long.

The thoughts about the Slytherins suddenly made him recall his conversation with Reese earlier in the week, and he had the sudden urge to ask Anna about it. That sentence she had uttered to him had been haunting his thoughts constantly since then, and he STILL wasn't sure what to make of it. Maybe Anna would know what to do when he explained it to her?

"I erm...actually, I need your advice on something," he explained, sitting down next to her, taking special care to avoid looking at her letter in the process. He didn't need to read any more than he had already heard.
