He wanted the playful, childish Bunbury from last term back! She would have never been angry at Jack for losing his book.

He spotted someone sitting in front of the Humpbacked Witch statute a few feet ahead, and saw that it was Anna, writing a letter to...someone. Probably Cale. Who else would she be writing too?

"Hi Anna," he said with a smile, wondering for a split second afterwards if she wanted to be bothered with him or not. If she was writing to Cale, then--probably not. She was really touchy about that sort of thing. Just mention ONE thing that reminded her of Cale, and it was like a REFLEX for her to start crying. Jack couldn't handle any more crying.
As Jack spoke, Anna's quill continued to move across the parchment at rapid rates. She was at a really good part in her letter, and she didn't want to lose the train of thought she'd worked so hard to build up to. "...can't wait to come home for Christmas, jump right into your arms, and kiss you over and over again for two straight hours," she read aloud, quill still scratching across the parchment. "You know what I miss the most, Sweetheart? I miss the way your hair feels when I run my hands through it. I miss sharing a loveseat with you in the Common Room, and...

"Oh, hello, Jack," she finally replied, glancing up at him with an innocent smile. She folded the parchment she'd been writing on and put it and the quill on the floor beside her. "How are you? I'm just sitting here...minding my own business...composing a letter to Cale." She said the last line as if it hadn't been crystal clear from the parts she'd just read aloud. Poor Jack. She hoped he didn't get too embarrassed. He didn't exactly seem like the kind of guy experienced in the arts of kissing or having girls run their hands through his hair, though. "Just...you know, catching him up on the flooded dungeons and such."
