Kazimeriz listened to Forrester. Yes, the observatory was a good and logical choice- large, and close to their Head of House. Perfect. But--
Oh. Merlin.
The potions classroom.
He closed his eyes, his mind racing as he considered: The ratios and dilution and the rate of magical decay and temperature conditions with contamination factors and calculating for Golpalott's second AND third law--
His eyes still closed, his face pale and tense, he spoke again to Forrester. "The observatory makes excellent sense; they will be close to their Head of House. We have bedrolls that can be provided to the students, but my request for emergency supply kits still remains. The house elves will not be called upon to enter those waters for the sake of their health and safety; further, I do not at this time wish for any items to be retrieved from the floodwaters for the students' use and agree that every student who was in contact with flood water must receive a full healer's evaulation."
Professor Kazimeriz pointed his wand at his throat, cast sonorous, and addressed the hall at large again. "I ask that any student who was affected by flooding to remove shoes, socks and outerwear -- outer robes only-- that were affected by the flooding, even if a drying charm was applied. A professor will come by to collect these items from you."
He turned once more the Bunbury, Avalon and Vindictus, speaking quickly and in a low voice meant only for the professors at the dias. "I presume you still have work robes stored in your greenhouse and shed? We need as many of those as possible to be sent to the observatory as temporary replacement clothing for the students. All students need to be thoroughly examined, then showered and decontaminated as soon as possible. Miss Avalon, I will need a private word with you before you do so, to discuss what symptoms you are to be looking for. "
He looked to all the professors at the table, his face extremely somber. "No professor should take the task of going into that water lightly; in fact, Maximus, perhaps you could provide brooms so that we can fly in low over the waters and avoid contact with that water as much as possible while we attempt to contain it?" As soon as Forrester mentioned the Potions Classroom Caroline's eyes bugged out of her head.
Okay, no time for your chicken little impression, you can do that later.
But she dearly wanted to do it now. She'd had a long day so far and she was TIRED of keeping it together and she wanted to have a little cry now, okay?
No not okay. She knew it was not okay. And she had known, taking this job, that a normal day is a day when the school HASN'T caught on fire, or been partially destroyed, almost been usurped by the ministry or anything of the like. It was just a little water. And... et cetera. No mater that she was pretty much terrified of it.
She took a deep breath, steadied herself. Fighting with Kazimeriz ceased to be important. "Yes Professor Kazimeriz," she acquiesced. "Also, while it seems like the least of our problems, as long as there are no interaction considerations, every Professor who has been in the water needs to take Pepperup Potion. I cannot stress that enough. We have troubles enough without one of you catching cold too."
It wasn't a slight. And while none of the children were having adverse reactions, the window was essentially closed on an interaction complication, but she wanted to know exactly what Professor Kazimeriz had to say before she did anything else.
