With her forehead still against the table the 14 year old slowly opened her eyes, unable to see anything but dark-brown wood, which was a lot more soothing than looking at the bright lights of the Great Hall at the moment, though. What had happened? Then it all came rushing back to her: the dungeons flooded, Evangeline rescuing her from the dormitory, the Great Hall and then...her trail of thoughts ended with this memory. They had arrived at the Great Hall and had gone over to the Slytherin House Table. Then Evangeline had gone off to greet Clifford, telling her that she would be right back. And then?
Very slowly, careful not to do it too quickly to avoid feeling dizzy, Nancy raised her head with her eyes narrowed slightly to keep the bright lights out as much as possible without closing them completely. It still sent a soaring pain through her skull which made a wince escape her lips. Gradually opening her eyes a little wider Nancy steadily took in her surroundings, the still pretty soaked-looking Slytherins at her own table and most of the other students at their own, all staring intently up at the Staff Table where Professor Kazimeriz had apparently asked for their attention.
The throbbing on her forehead, right between her eyebrows made Nancy rub her temples to get rid of the pain but instead found a soaked cloth dangling from her fingers which had probably just peeled off her forehead. Carefully placing it onto the table Nancy took a quick glance around to see who might have put it there as she realized that this was not the only thing the person had done. There was a blanket draped around her shoulders which she immediately pulled closer around her to receive as much warmth as possible from it. Now, what was going on? |
