Righting himself again, Jake straightened his shirt and set his parchment out, feeling a slight breeze playing on his neck. He raised his hand. "Last year... we did... the younger years did the sparks out of the wand thingmajig," Yes, he had forgotten already. "And the older ones did the writing words with ribbons in the air and all that jazz."
Jake was pretty sure one of those was Risona, but he had already made enough of a fool of himself... so he left it at that. Turning to the boy by the window, Lars listened attentively as he described some of what they had learned the previous year. Sparks and ribbon words... interesting. "Thank you, Mister..."
Oh no. He had forgotten to instruct them to say their names before they answered. Oh well, he could always tell them on the next question, if he remembered then. Quote:

"I think you're all up to the task, though." Quote:

...She paused, "But, then again, that was at my previous school." "Morphing objects into their opposite, eh?" Lars smiled at the girl. "That's not quite what we'll be learning this year. Not quite." Quote:

She said nervously. "Exactly! That's exactly what nearly everyone assumes transfiguration is!" Quote:
Hrrrmm. Okay, so this actually came about from when he'd greatly wanted the professor to turn the Ravenclaw quidditch captain into a canary. He raised his hand, murmuring thoughtfully, 'So this might not be what you're looking for, but prior to what I thought I did know about Transfiguration, it is possible to use transfiguration spells on living things. Who knew? I'd thought it was only limited to inanimate objects.'
Lars nodded in acknowledgement of the boy's point. He did have a point, after all. "That's a very helpful thing to know, as a matter of fact." Quote:

We'll be covering that later in the year--as a review and for the first years, I suppose," he said. Completely disregarding what he had said about arrows, he was far more interested in the fact that some of these students had learned about the difference between charms and transfiguration. Quote:
Oooh. What they had done previously? Vanessa remembered back to last year, before raising her hand. "Well..in one lesson we learnt how to fire arrows from our wands at a target, Sir." She nodded, with a smile. She had enjoyed that lesson.
"Well, I guess that would be handy if you're lost in a forest and want to go hunting," Lars said with a smile. Quote:
Willow, who had been sitting in the back of the classroom doing anything BUT paying attention, snapped back to reality upon hearing everyone surrounding her speak.
Blinking her forest green eyes a couple of times and gathering by the Hufflepuff seeker's answer that Svensson had probably asked about the past terms, the girl raised her hand and answered, "We also learned the Sinistra Lumina Spell. About ... Two terms ago, I believe." It was the spell that you used when you wanted to create a handful of light, right? Right. "And as someone else already poitned. "We also learned Oppugno. I think that was around ... five terms ago." WOW. With Professor Pride.
Lars nodded and tapped his wand against his palm. "Thank you, Miss Kovac. Those are two interesting spells to have in your knowledge. Who knows? They might come in handy." Quote:
Theo raised his hand, "I learnt that you always need you wand with you. Incase something happens."
Lars gave the boy a thumbs-up. "That is a good thing to know. You never know when you might need your wand for protection or just to make life a little bit easier."
"Now. Next time you answer a question, if you could tell me your name before your answer, that would be excellent." Lars hoisted himself onto his desk and eyed the class. "Now. Can I please have a volunteer? Just one is enough." |
