Kazimeriz's gaze hardened. "However, your behavior at the feast was, as you have stated, absolutely appalling and uncalled for. It will simply not be accepted at this institution, and if I ever catch you acting out in such a manner again the consequences will be swift and severe."

He stared Upstead down sternly. "You appear to be confused about my instructions of last term. There is a vast difference between notifying a professor of an ongoing bullying problem and tattling at the slightest transgression. You must learn to solve your own problems when possible, and only to bring them to an authority figure if they are outside the scope of your own control. You could have resolved the problem at the feast by merely moving to a different seat or by letting the student know that his behavior would not be tolerated. If you do not behave in a manner that conveys self-respect, you will forever be a victim and a target for bullies, Upstead. Is this clear to you?"
Bowing his head and feeling very much ashamed, Jake stared at his hands which were fiddling with a loose strand of thread on the sleeve on his robes. "Yes sir, I... I will try not to act that way again... I just tend to... Well, things in my head get mixed up and I don't think and I forget what to do. I know you probably think it's an excuse, but I've always been like that."

The consequences will be swift and severe. Oho, Jake knew what that meant. "I understand that, sir. Things did, unfortunately, get out of hand at my old school, and I ended up being asked to leave," he added quietly. Expelled, more like. Jake thought he may as well explain that, no matter what Kazi would think. He knew he should have learned... but... siiiiiigh.

"Yes sir, that... it is kind of clear, but..." he stalled. "I... I don't know where to draw the line... It's hard. And, I would have moved, but I was having some an important conversation at the time... and the boy, I didn't want to tell him to stop... I was scared. And I had a right to be... he broke that girl's hand..." Jake stopped and shook his head. "I suppose that's kind of clear, sir."
