Did she gain some self-esteem over the summer? She must have. She usually NEVER compliments on her body.
She picked up a piece of bread and looked back at Cam when he finally spoke up. "Hello," she said, trying to keep all the kindness in her voice. She was NOT going to lose her cool with Cam. She was going to be a nice little girl with him, if it scared Cam or not.
She looked at the piece of chicken and Cam's hands and then moved her eyes back to his. "I can see that," she told him with a smile, "So- ummm- did you have a great summer, Cam?" The chances of Cam having a great summer were slime. Since, the kiss and everything happened this summer. She was so regretting that kiss right now. She should have never kissed him.

He scanned the table, looking for the heavenly Evolette, but he couldn't find her anywhere. Instead, his eyes fell upon Reese, talking to some younger boy he had never seen before. Clearing his throat, he hurried over to her and pointed to the open seat next to her. "Hey, is this seat taken?" he asked with a small grin.
Cam confusingly stared at this girl that was now sweet-talking him with her kind voice and it just freaked the heck out of him. He was scared, really. It was like she wanted to get back together again. Wait. No. NOT AGAIN. He knew all of her plans at that moment; she was going to try and kiss him again and persuade him to be her boyfriend. It was nasty. But sadly, it was the truth. Reese Upstead was not attracted to any other boys and so her last resort was him; Cam. It wasn't fair.
He took a bite of his chicken and shivered at the thought of being kissed by the devil herself again. And just the thought of it made him want to curl up in a ball and lock himself in a room for 10 years. The HORROR! Why was it that his life was slowly turning into an action/horror movie? For the past few weeks, he'd been kissed by a girl, threatened by a woman, betrayed by a friend, and then attacked the same girl that kissed him.
Life was filled with surprises, no?
"Did... you're asking if I had a great summer?" To him, that sentence was more like a "So, did you like kissing, Cam?" That question proved it all... Reese wanted to get back by him and that was her first step; to see if he liked the kiss. And he obviously not.
"No, I do not like kis--," a boy came to them and asked if the seat was taken. He didn't mind if the boy sat there--it meant that Reese would have to go on with her "taking-back" plan later.
...oh well.
