Startled, her hair turning almost completely silver as her heart jumped into her throat, Lasca jerked around to see who had scared her. "Sarah! Don't do that!" Her hand rested over her heart and she tried to get her breathing back under control.
She smiled. "Huffies are always welcome." She scooted over so that Sarah had room between herself and Mariel. Mariel was conversing with a bunch of Quidditch players so she didn't want to make her move.
Picking up her goblet she took a sip while her eyes strayed to the Slytherin table. She had caught a few short glances of Nate but now he was completely blocked from view. Shaking her head she returned her attention to her Hufflepuff best friend.
"So, where have you been?"
Lasca smiled at the first year. "Classes should start tomorrow. There will be notices up in the Common Room about which classes are when for you." She couldn't help but love Dani. She saw the same eagerness to learn in her that Lasca herself felt all the time. Of course there was one class that she could stand going to and that was Arithmancy. That was only because the class was a puzzle to her. She didn't understand any of it.
Sighing, she hoped this year would be different. "What classes are you excited about taking?"
Sarah laughed as her friend nearly fell over with shock.
"I'm sorry Lasca," she said glancing at her friend's now silver hair.
"By the way that is a nice colour on you,brings out your eyes."
Smiling she swung her legs over the bench and sat down in the space made for her by Lasca.
"I'm glad to hear it!" she responded to the Huffie comment.
Sarah loved spendng time with her friends from Ravenclaw,but she was always wary when they were talking to people she didn't know herself in case said people thought she was a rude,interrupting nuisence.
Now she was sat down she made light work of a goblet of pumpkin juice that she'd poured for herself.As she was drinking,Sarah caught Lasca,out the corner of her eye,watching the Slytherin table.
"Something happening over there?" she asked turning to look herself.
"Or are you ahem...looking for someone?"
She asked that last question with a playful tone in her voice.The look on Lasca's face was as if she was searching for someone amongst the crowd.
Sarah smiled when Lasca turned back to her.
"Oh I've just been mingling at the Huffie table.Not much happening before I left to come over here," she said,replacing the empty goblet back on the table and reaching up to scratch the back of her neck.
"Mind you I expect it all started afterwards...I mean...Dominic Denton was being nice to a first year.Something has to be up there!" Sarah laughed as she remembered the sight of him greeting the poor firstie back to the table.Weird.So unlike him.
"So what's been happening here? Have I missed anything good?"
