And what was this talk about liking spiders? NO...she did not like spiders..but she didn't really have time to say anything before Jake called "Charlie." Hayley recoiled a bit as the spider, obviously a very small ( a baby maybe?) trantula scurried down from the luggage rack onto Jake's shoulder...actually the little fella wasn't so terrible. He didn't act like a spider who was going to bite her...or something along those lines. "Uhm...it's...it's not going to bite me, is it," Hayley finally stammered.
"It's nice to meet you too," she said cheerfully to the other girl who had just entered the compartment...
Melanie watched the other girl recoil away from Jake's little spider, little for a tarantula anyway...apparently she wasn't the one a bit frightened by the creature. Melanie scooted back a bit more. Jake hadn't noticed before so there wasn't much chance he would now. However she decided she may as well inform the girl of a...sort of pointless fact.... Well pointless until now anyway.
"Tarantula's aren't poisonous." she told her. No, that hadn't really stopped her from being scared of the eight legged pet, but surely it counted for something, right?

"Hey Varius," Jake smiled, looking round at all the others. "This is Melanie," he pointed to the girl who noticed Varius first. "Erm... Natasha?" Jake pointed to the person only Melanie seemed to know. "And Hayley," he finished, finally pointing to the smallest girl in the compartment, who happened to be the same size as Jake.
"It's all good," Jake nodded to the great onslaught of questions. Except the hair question. "Glad you noticed," he nodded, shaking the longish mess away from his face. "The hair is gonna be pink for, like, two years," Jake explained, steering away from the long story. "How are things with you?"
By now consumed with the whole money issue, Jake huffed uncomfortably, tossing the pouch up and on to the luggage rack opposite him and above the seats where Melanie and a few were. The money missed the cat. "If anyone wants it, I hardly care," he added, shrugging his free shoulder.
Looking curiously at Charlie and then back to the girl, Jake really did shrug both shoulders. "You know, I have no idea... I never asked, see? I don't think so, but then, I never made him angry before... So don't make him angry and he'll be okay," Jake explained. "He's fine when he's up here, I promise."
The nickname Varius had called Jake struck her as kinda funny, but she didn't laugh...
She nodded and pointed at herself as she was introduced even though she'd already told him who she was...Anywho, back to the money situation.
Melanie eyed the money, too proud to take it, guessing if they simply left it there some complete stranger would come along and take it anyway. They may as well get some enjoyment out of it...
"I have an idea!" she announced, a bit upset her brilliant plan hadn't popped into her head earlier, it would have saved a lot of trouble, but ecstatic anyway.
"Anyone wanna go to the food trolley with me?" she asked, picking up the sack of money and waggling it around a bit. She'd need help to carry their purchases if they were going to use it all...Duuuuude. It could last them all year at Hogwarts if they bought that much candy...
Yes. She did like candy that much. If anyone had a problem with that they could talk to her cat.

"Hi Momo and how are you doing?" he asked the cat with not much response. Must be shy.
"Hi Hayley and Natasha," Varius smiled, "You are quite the little pimp JakeyWakey."
He was about to start up a completely different conversation when he noticed it. Springing from his seat, he practically screamed, "WHADDAHELLISTHATHING!? Are eight legs even legal!" He pushed as far away from the... THING as much as possible.
Melanie stared at him for a few seconds at news of her new nickname, and then blinked. So it was a bit odd...But hey he'd said she smelled good! That was a plus.
"Okay then...I can't think of any for you though...so I guess you'll have to stick to Varius for now." she informed him. Right..she'd need to think about that one. His name didn't rhyme with much...
"Yeah...He is a bit quiet." Melanie agreed as he turned around to speak to her pet.
"He is sleeping now though." she added, looking up at the now peaceful cat. Not that he was normally very talkative.
Melanie jumped as he screamed, a reaction to Jake's little...pet.
Beast more like it. She wasn't the only one though. Sitting above her on a luggage rack a fluffy black cat broke out of his deep sleep, his eyes immediately locking with the boy's whom had awaken him from his slumber. now he was neither feeling peaceful or sleepy, just grumpy and angry at the blond boy sitting below the luggage rack...
Dun dun duuuuuuun...

"Hey Cady!" Melanie replied, grinning at the other Huffie girl as she entered the compartment.
"I don't mind at all." she answered, happily, scooting over to make room for her. It was a bit crowded, but crowded was good anyway...funner. Just stuffier. Melanie wished she could open a window or something...Ugh.
She slipped her jacket off her shoulders though, stuffing it into her truck which still laid on the floor of the compartment...she wasn't quite strong enough to lift it up anyway and that made it much easier to get to.

"I know! Isn't it like the awesomestest place on the earth." she answered, throwing her arms out (being careful of course not to smack anyone across the face) to demonstrate just how crazy awesome it was. Pretty dang awesome...
Okay, right, good mood back. The thought of candy had pretty much fixed
that. That and Jake's mad-ness fading...Angry people were no fun...but he didn't seem so angry anymore.

"I'll take your word for it," Hayley replied to Jake's promise that Charlie wouldn't hurt her...maybe..."Hey, do you think that maybe he would let me hold him." ZomG! Did I just ask if I could hold a SPIDER?!...oh well, not gonna take it back, besides...Jake DID promise it wouldn't hurt me...
MERLIN'S SWEATY GYM SOCKS! The girl was brave! She was gonna hold the little fuzzy spider she'd been afraid of not so long ago... Melanie looked at the first year with awe and a bit of over protectiveness, especially for just meeting her, as Jake instructed her to hold her hands out for her to hold Charlie the tarantula, ready to go help her if she needed back up...Not that that was likely. Jake didn't lie and if he said the spider wasn't going to bite her then it most likely wasn't...
However while Melanie trusted Jake she most definitely did not trust spiders. They were EVIIILLLL.

Ana followed the sound and there it was, Melanie and Cadence, she ran to them and with her arms open she grabbed them from behind and hugged them.
The summer was really cool but it is equally great to be back!
"Hiiiiii !!!" she said extremely excited for everything. Back to Hogwarts, see her friends again, magic, oh and she was curious to see the firsties.
"How was summer?" she asked Lanie and Cadence.
"Eep!" Melanie let out a short squeak as she was hugged, looking widely around for the perpetrator. Normally she was the hugger and not the hugged...Humph.
"Ana!" she said, enthusiasm leaking off her words as she hugged her back, then plopped back down into her seat.
"Hey!" she greeted, noticing Ana's excitement.
Ohh and why-o-why did everyone have to ask the dreaded question? Couldn't they ask her what she had for breakfast that morning or- or something else. Anything...She almost knew how Jake flt having been asked what happened to his hair so many times.
Sigh.
"Boooooooring." she answered, extending the word to make it more dramatic. Afterall wouldn't any summer be boring after so long at Hogwarts?
"Sooo...you?" she asked her, raising an eyebrow curiously.

With his PINK hair.
Noticing the look she was getting she shrugged, giving him a happy grin. She liked the company...
She watching him pull a book out, probably non-fiction, and turned around to talk to some other people. She couldn't understand why he'd want to read a book when there was so many people around, even being a bookworm herself. Oh well though, maybe he was at a good prat of the story or something...

She hissed at her black and white cat, already regretting her prior decision to take him along and not simply leave him in his cage with her luggage.
Still engrossed in thought about how much easier it would have been if she hadn't had the extra weight of Chistery in her arms to balance Nancy automatically continued to look into every compartment she passed to see if there was anybody in there she could sit with. That was the moment her blue eyes fell on a boy whose hair was a quite unusual color. And the boy even turned out to be somebody she knew. It turned out to be... "Jake?!" Staring at him, and especially his hair, Nancy went to stand in the compartment door with a smirk plastered across her face. "Uhm...what happened to your hair?!"
Melanie watched as yet another person entered the doors of their compartment, this one knowing Jake. She looked like she was in about 4th year and Melanie thought she may have seen her around before...probably in classes or something.
She glanced up carefully at her, now awake, cat as she realized she was carrying a black and white cat in her hands, but Momo didn't move an inch from the glare he had fixed on the Hufflepuff boy who had woken him up.
"Hey there." Melanie said, smiling up at her as she entered the compartment, even though she knew that she'd only greeted Jake. It was never to late to meet new people, was it? She didn't think so anyway...
