The spider settled on Jake's shoulder and regarded the two girls, before seeming to relax.

On his chest, Lolcat sat bolt upright, his wide eyes watching Hayley, shifting to the owl every so often. Jake scratched him under the chin and the cat curled up and went to sleep straight away.

BLAH! She knew he was lying... well of course she would. Jake just couldn't lie. This was the second time he had ever lied, and both times they knew. "I know..." he murmured, looking away from the pouch. "I don't want it."

Some people would call it dirty money, but Jake wouldn't understand that. He doubted it was that anyway... he didn't like it. "Keep it. Give it away. It's not like-"

It's not like I don't have plenty more.
Melanie's eyes widened, eying the spider precariously as it crawled up onto Jake's shoulder. Without thinking, she pulled her, legs up onto the seat of the compartment, wrapping her arms around her legs, and placing her chin on her knees. "Oh." she answered, her voice squeaking. This animal she didn't bother to ask if she could pet. She didn't consider Tarantula's cute by any means. And now they were outnumbered. If the animals wanted to take over it was 4 to 3. And they had the tarantula...

Gulp.

Well at least he didn't try to lie about lying...He was too easy to see through and she'd been there when he'd left it anyway. No one had that bad of a memory.

Melanie regarded him carefully and decided not to make some sort of sarcastic comment or criticize him. "Why?" she asked simply, giving him a quizzical look.

"I'm not keeping it if that's what you want...If you don't take it it's staying right here for any passerby's to pick up." she informed him stubbornly. "Give it back to your dad or something...I don't know." Melanie said, setting the bag of money on the floor of the compartment and looking longingly out the window, wishing the train could move faster somehow.

However, as well as changes there were things that stayed the same: he still rubbed heads in salutations, he still had a lot of random facts and he was the Sheesh Kebabs number one fan.

Choo Choo!

He needed to find a compartment. He couldnt stand for this entire trip! No siree. "ANY AVAILABLE VACANCIES!???" he screamed down the corridor of the front of the train, "ANY AVAILABLE COMPARTMENT SPACEEE!?"

... Choo Choo!
Hearing a voice yelling outside her compartment, Melanie glanced out, slightly startled. some boy was looking for a place to sit...and they had room for a few more...probably.

Leaning on the door of the compartment, and pulling out of her previous position she'd assumed at sight of Jake's spider, she poked her head out, her hair spilling around her shoulders. "You can sit in here, I suppose." she offered, giving him a small grin.

Unless you wanna stay out there yelling...

"I'm Natasha," she said.
"Hey" she replied, happy to see the familiar face. "Jake and Hayley." she introduced them, pointing a lazy finger at the two in turn. "How're you?" Melanie asked, slightly curious. She sighed restlessly, excited to be going to school again, she looked out the window for what felt like the millionth time. Feet felt like they were crawling by like inches, minutes like hours...she just wanted to be at Hogwarts again.
