She smoothed her skirt for the umpteenth time. Suddenly the decision to wear such a bright and cheerful dress seemed foolish. She should have chosen something more subdued, more mature. And she shouldn’t have worn shoes with BOWS on them. She liked the bows, but they didn’t scream 'Hi, I’m an adult with adult things on her mind.'
Taking a deep breath, Cari stepped inside. “Hello,” she said evenly to the room in general, “is there somewhere in particular I’m supposed to sit?”
Good Cari, act like you belong and they’ll just let you stay. Professor Kazimeriz glanced at the young lady entering the room, then did a double take. His jaw slackened, his eyes bugged out and his eyebrows furrowed as his gaze fixed on the young girl who entered the room. His expression was not unlike that of a man having a stroke, and he thought for a moment that perhaps he was. Surely it had to be an anuerysm or-- perhaps someone had slipped a confusion concoction into his drink. Yes, surely that was it. Or a stroke. A stroke would surely be more merciful than--
Caroline? It certainly could not be Caroline-- no, surely not. Why, she would be my age...
He couldn't take his eyes off her, and kept staring as though no one else was in the room.

She spotted her godfather and smiled widely at Kazimeriz, her bloodshot eyes only visible to him while she made her way to stand beside him. Papa Valon was the only person whom she was comfortable with at the moment. She couldn't look at the others still. Last term was the most embarrassing 10 months she'd ever experienced.
"Hello Papa Valon, how are you feeling today?" She said masking her embarrassment... she couldn't fool him though. She knew... still.
"Mhrm.." he murmured a wordless grunt absently, knowing vaguely that his name had been spoken but unable to process what had been said. He continued to stare at the young woman, unmoving.

"Good afternoon, everyone." He greeted warmly taking a seat near the new intern, saving one for Ashby.
"Oh, Welcome to Hogwarts!" The semi-befuddled Professor said, speaking to the new-comers.
Kazimeriz moved a hand toward the divinations professor in what could be interpreted as a slight wave of greeting. In reality, he was hoping to encourage the bloke to move aside, as he was obstructing his line of sight and he couldn't see his hallucination as clearly. Was that even possible, to obstruct a hallucination? He didn't think so. Still. He craned his neck forward so he could see if it was still there, relaxing back as Kapoor moved toward a seat.
She still was there. And did the headmaster really just say... Avalon? Or was that a figment of his imagination as well?
He sat, staring at the young woman. Rapt. Shocked.
Caroline...Avalon?
