Turning his head round, Jake caught sight of Lima just before she decided to crushing in a decidedly firm hug.
"With the naaaame," he groaned, as she squeeeezed.
"Wh- wait... What?! What do you mean, miss me?" he asked.
"Summer isn't that long... we'll be back soon... right?" Quote:

"You don't have to answer that." she added, remembering why he got mad at her when she had been overly curious.
Melanie felt a small amused smile slip across his 'work of art'. Annnd now he had to go and remind her of her older brother...For the first time in a a long time since she'd been at Hogwarts Melanie felt a wave of homesickness hit her. She missed him...
Shaking herself out of her thoughts, and managing to wipe off any emotion that had been on her face while staring at the food utensils that he had turned into a sculpture and a very dorkish one at that.
Melanie, realizing what she'd been doing, let her eyes flicker back up to Jake who was speaking. She missed the first few words, but heard the rest. "No problem." she answered, wondering why he was thanking her anyway. "Honestly." Melanie gave him a small smile. Did he want her to though...? Jake was being really nice and she was starting to realize it may be authentic. Why would he fake it anyway?
Melanie glanced back as he did to see what he was looking at. Ema of course... She wanted to talk to her before she had to leave Hogwarts and knew the feast would just be too short, but Ema was speaking to someone else too. Maybe she could just continue until she was finished or until Jake had someone else to talk to? She didn't want to leave him all alone anyway. "I can stay for a bit." Melanie said, smiling. "If that's okay with you I mean." she continued, her grin faltering slightly.
Quirking an eyebrow at her outright questioning, Jake smiled. Again.
"Nah, it's okay..." he nodded, turning to face Melanie a tad better.
"I just... well... I don't get on with my mother... We have pretty explosive confrontations, and if not that, then we never talk... It gets lonely," Jake explained, leaning on the table.
"Plus... I left her house last summer... and went to stay with a friend... but we fell out and I wasn't welcome at her house anymore... So yeah," Jake paused here, staring off and trying to think of a way to explain that though technically he didn't live anywhere, he wasn't homeless.
"Basically, my mother sent me an address, to my dad's place..." he went on.
"It's only a small flat from what I can tell... and I have no idea what it's going to be like... what he's going to be like... if I'll even find him... He could have moved for all I know."
Turning back to the table, Jake was silent for a moment, because Melanie was going to go now. But then... she didn't.
"What?" Jake asked, a tad bemused.
"I mean... of course... Stay. I mean, it's fine with me," he rambled, trying to wipe the idiotic grin off his face. It was good to know that Melanie didn't hate him like he'd thought for so long.
Well, come on... she
had been really weird with him before then.
