Twinnie and Moo Constant Vigilance! O_O AWAKE! Juniper had nothing to do, and she wanted to read a book. That was what she did when she was bored. She read, usually outside. The only problem was her lack of unpacked books. Luckily for Juniper, that was a problem easily remedied with a trip to the library. The fourth year strode purposefully to the bookshelves before slowing her pace so she could read the titles. That one looked gruesome, and that one seemed uninformative. Juniper passed several shelves after only a quick glance, until she reached a group of books that seemed promising. Pausing, Juniper began to read the titles and hypothesize what the books would be about.
Hmmm. A book about domestic animals. That seemed promising, and Juniper pulled the rather thick volume from the shelf and opened it to its table of contents. Ahhh, a chapter on owls, and ferrets, and toads... wait. Why was there a chapter on nifflers? The fourth year flipped to that chapter, to see how nifflers could be regarded as domestic animals.
That was when she heard it. Voices.
Freezing in mid-page turn, Juniper looked up from the book and glanced around her like a startled deer. There were... voices. In the library. That was funny. She had been under the impression that libraries were supposed to be quiet. And whoever was talking clearly had not gotten that message, so Juniper quietly shut the book, tucked it under her arm, and tiptoed to the end of the bookshelf. She could not be sure, but it sounded as if the talkers were in the next row of books.
Peering around the bookshelf, Juniper held her book as a shield in front of her chest, and opened her mouth to tell whomever it was off.
"Oh!"
Well, she couldn't very well scold her best friend and the Quidditch captain, now could she? |
