As soon as she was through the last door, Anna ended her Shield Charm, yet she kept her wand gripped tightly in her hand as a precaution. Anna wasn't sure exactly what she'd encounter, but she knew it'd be something dark...and evil. Of course she hadn't entered this room for a cauldron cake and pumpkin juice party, although that would be nice. Once again, her eyes fell upon a sign hanging just in front of her. Another congratulations sign, but at least she'd gained more points by entering this particular room. Did that mean, though, that the dangers she'd face within were even more intense than that dangers in the last room? Ohh...yikes. Anna had a kazillion and one thoughts running through her mind, but she couldn't get distracted on any of them now. Alert...aware...assess...reassess...

Shivering slightly, Anna fought the urge to grab the sides of her robe and bundle up. That wouldn't do, though. She'd practically be leaving herself wide open for an attack at that point. Anna glanced down at the thin frost covering the floor. It sort of reminded her of the time when she, Professor Vindictus, and a few other students had iced down the third floor corridor just to get a get a good laugh. Good times, good times. When Anna looked back up, her eyes fell upon a veil on the far side of the room. Anna stopped short and glared at the veil, daring it to harm her. "Oh, heck no!" she thought to the veil, even though it couldn't hear her thoughts. "It's your kind that killed the great Sirius Black...I'm on to you...you..." Anna stopped mentally fussing at the veil and stared at it with a rather blank expression.

That veil...was not a veil.

It was a Dementor! Okay, don't panic. No panicking allowed in Defense Against the Dark Arts...unless you desire to die a quick and painful death. Anna needed a happy memory. What about...oh, finals ending! No, no. That was no good. Finals ending meant the End-of-Term, and the End-of-Term feast meant the train ride home. All of that equalled to Cale leaving Hogwarts for good and Anna going through her seventh and final year without him. Besides, finals ending wasn't a memory. It was just a happy thought. Anna needed a different thought, something that had happened that would make her happy all over again. Looking down to the floor, Anna once again saw the thin frost covering the floor. Of course that triggered the incident with Professor Vindictus again, which, in turn, make Anna laugh. That had been a happy moment, since she and the others had had so much fun icing down that corridor! Thank Merlin Professor Kazimeriz hadn't come by! They'd all have served the remainder of the school year plus half of next school year in detention!

When Anna was sure she had enough happiness in her thoughts to fight the dementor, she looked up at it and raised her wand. Tilting it down to a slight angle towards the dementor, Anna looped the wand and formed the letter e. As soon as she'd swooped down, she called out, "EXPECTO PATRONUM!" Her silvery owl burst from hand and flew straight towards the dementor. Anna watched as the owl casted the dementor far, far away from her. She'd done it! She'd defeated the dementor and was now free to proceed through yet another door she could see just up ahead. With her wand back down by her side, Anna stepped forward and walked through the door she'd spotted.
