Moony's 'Furry Little Problem' Cressida, Will, Chandan, Draygon Chandan smiled at Laylee's question about Romulus. "In a way." Chandy's smile widened a little. "He's Miles' 'unofficial' boyfriend." He grinned. "Unofficial because he's absolutely smitten with her and she's smitten with him." Chandy shook his head, chuckling. "Neither of them have worked this out though. They both think the other only thinks of them as a close friend. Heh. Ironic, really."
Chandan muttered a word under his breath and the lift doors opened. The inside was like crushed velvet and smelt like pressed rose petals. Chandan gestured for Laylee to enter, muttering another hushed word inside and waiting for the doors to slide shut again before continuing speaking.
"Malcolm's his younger brother. He's a rather unique boy. You'll see later." Chandan lent closer to Laylee. "Now, if you're not afraid of heights then look down - but not yet!" Chandan added quickly, as a precaution. "There's no bottom to this lift, it only seems like there is. If you look straight down you'll see properly. What's keeping you from falling is your belief that you won't fall. Wish you'd taken the stairs now?" Chandan smiled reassuringly at Laylee, holding her arm gently.
"If you begin to feel panicky, grab hold of me. Your luggage will be fine. There's spells to protect that." Chandan's eyes gleamed mysteriously, as they did when he was Seeing. "Miles may have mentioned Dragons earlier. Usually, only me and Silk can see them, but once in a blue moon a stranger can too. It's true." Chandan glanced down and grinned.
"They're closer today. It's a little creepy, but don't be afraid. I nearly fell down there once, I know what to do."
Below Chandan's feet, and past the blurred haze of murkiness that descended into the gloom, were two bright, flame-hazed eyes, burning menacingly. And if you really concentrated, you could see at least two more pairs, their glares sending a shiver down Chandan's spine. If you really concentrated, you could just see the tip of the largest Dragon's flaring blood-red nostril, protruding upwards - startlingly close and gaining altitude at an alarming rate.
"It's quite a fearsome sight, if you're not used to it." Chandan looked up at Laylee again. "If you're up to it, look down now. Once you've caught your bearings, I'll send us up."
"Sesitum." Chandan hissed at the Dragon, which stopped its ascent, its ginormous muscular and spined head roaring threateningly just a foot or so beneath them now, ferocious gaze drawn to Laylee. It was so close the dissipating smoke from its nostrils encircled the lift easily. Chandan waited in anxiety, wondering whether Laylee would risk looking down.
