59. Ignore

She frowned, trying to block out the sound of his footsteps on the cold, stone floor of the castle. He knocked, but Rowena did not respond, pretending instead that she was asleep – although she knew he was perfectly aware she usually read well into the night.

“Wen, you can’t ignore me forever,” his voice floated meekly through the thick oaken door.

She kept her mouth firmly shut.

A piece of parchment slipped under her door, and footsteps sounded once again, preceded by a quiet “Goodnight”.

Godric was apologizing to her again, but she still wasn’t ready to accept his regret.
