"Oh Jake, would you like one of the babies when they're born? I see you've got a real knack with Webster there, might be nice to have on of your own?" She hoped Jake, would like to take one there was nothing more satisfying than having a pet to look after and it just might keep Jake busy enough to forget about his other problems...for a while at least.
Nodding slowly, Jake watched Webster as he decided to go on another wander around Jake's arm before. He stared as the tarantula stopped and he gazed at its... face? Then his head shot up.
"Serious?" he asked Kayla, tilting his head to one side.
"Like... really?" Awesome! he thought to himself gleefully, hoping she wasn't messing with him.
"Because I'd love that," he murmured, looking back at Webster.

"Cheers, mate," Jake muttered without really thinking about the London accent he'd started talking with again, holding up the glass and looking through it towards the light. He had, by this time, distracted himself from Kayla and Professor Morgan without really realising. After assuring himself that the glass was indeed free from... wels, he didn't really know what he was looking for, Jake brought it to his lips and downed half of the glass. The headache he had appeared to ease, and so he held up the vial and regarded it.
Biting his lip, Jake decided it couldn't hurt, and opened the thing and drank it. Shuddering, he buried his face in the crook of his elbow, feeling very aware of the sudden calming effect it had. The change was immense, and Jake kept his face hidden, screwing up his eyes until he had gotten used to it. Then, feeling something on the side of his face (Webster), Jake looked back up, eyes glazed a little, and drank down the rest of the water.
"Thank you," he said quietly, setting the glass back on Professor Morgan's desk before looking in the general direction of Kayla.
"You want this guy back?" he asked, pointing to the Tarantula on the side of his face.
