Theme 20: Knitting Charm


"Evans?"

Seated by the edge of the lake, Lily Evans swept red bangs out of her eyes to see who her adresser was.

James Potter.

"Yes?" she asked, her tones stiffening along with her frame.

"Want to go on a date with me, Evans?"

She had learned a Knitting Charm, recently, and had been practicing it until he had interrupted her work. Without replying, Lily returned to it.

Strike one.

James sighed.

Evans, Evans, why can't you give me a chance, doll?

He tried again.

"It's against etiquette to ignore someone who's five foot eleven, Evans. Especially when that someone also oozes charisma, appeal and hawtness."

Lily made no reply. The enchanted needles continued their work, woollen thread dangling in midair.

Strike two.

James scowled.

Hidden beneath the Invisibility Cloak, Sirius slapped his head, in frustration. No, he mouthed. Something else. Say - something - else. Knitting. Ask her about her knitting.

"What's so great about your knitting, anyway?" James asked, at once.

Lily stood up, pulling herself to her full fight. "It's great, Potter, because it will enable me to make you a muffler, and strangle you with it."

She stormed off.

Sirius sighed: Strike three.
