Barry knew arguing would have no effect so he tried something else "Look here Jack, its very simple, if he`s annoying you walk away and uh..... let me deal with him, ok? If you can do this.." Barry searched for the right phrase to presuade Jack " ..you are strong, it doesn`t take courage to hex, but to leave an enemy, that takes alot of will and determanation" there

It wasn't chivalry or anything, Jake just liked his houses points firmly in tact right now, after the recent scare.
