“I’m warning you.”

“Get out of my way, you –”

Unsurprisingly, Evan halted. If the first voice was haughty, the second was haughtier – And he knew both.

“What’s going on?” he asked coldly, stepping into the corridor.

Bellatrix Black glared at him, arms folded across her chest. Avery Regent, his notorious Slytherin friend, stood in front of her, wand raised. Their group – Evan’s group – was famous for this: for using curses well beyond their years, for scaring the daylights out of first years.

But the words were out of his mouth before he could stop them.

“Leave her alone, Regent.”
