It was a Sunday, the day after the sorting. Evan rubbed his eyes, eyes that had not slept much in the night – he had been messing around with Gryffindors again.

He looked out of a window on his way downstairs. It was early, no later than seven in the morning. He didn’t expect anyone to be awake, and so he went in. Into the great hall.

She sat there, reading a newspaper. Too tall for an eleven year old, last night’s words rang into his mind.

The burning eyes scarcely glanced up, even as he took a seat besides her.
