Joanne nodded after the teacher's consent, so she proceeded to the step number 3 of the professor's instructions...

Quote:
3) Create a hole about the size of your new plant in the fertilized pot. Gloves again, people, you're not getting off easy with any trowels.
...and dug a hole with her hands. This feels good. When she thought it was big enough to be the new home of a puffapod she stepped into the remaining steps.

Quote:
4) Now go get a puffapod. Carefully, gripping the plant at the base of its stem, remove the puffapod from its old home. MAKE SURE YOU GET ALL ITS ROOTS (or as many as possible without damaging other plants around it). These plants don’t have many roots to begin with so BE CAREFUL!

5) Shake a little bit of excess dirt off, if there is any. Shake shake, shake shake a-shake it over the tub, please.

6) Carry the plant to its new pot and set it inside the hole you created, guesstimating to make sure there's enough room for all its roots. Make sure it doesn't sink (otherwise you'll need more dirt in the hole).

7) Retaining a hold on the plant being transplanted, gently massage its roots until they are loose and spread out in the hole you made.

8) Carefully fill in the space over the roots/around the base of the plant with more fresh, fertilized soil.

9) Pat the dirt up around the base of the plant because you don't want any exposed roots.

10) WATER the PLANT. Aguamenti again.
She approached the place where all puffapod's where planted and picked a nice looking one. She carefully, feeling his roots, disconnect each and every one very gently and started singing a lullabye in a low murmur while she cared the plant carefully in her arms. Lullabyes worked for babies, so she was sure it would work with a sensitive plant too. She now shook it very gently over the tub and helped with the other hand to get the puffapod rid of all excess of dirt. She was back at her working table as the hole she had made was just perfect, so once she was sure all the roots were in and that the puffapod wasn't sinking she massaged the roots so they spread into the hole nicely. "goodbye my angel time to close your eyes... lalala.." she continued singing. She then, still holding the plant and kind of petting it, like she did with her cat, she started adding more soil. She patted the soil around the plant and made sure no roots were visible and Aguamenti'd the plant again until it was perfect. " Here you go little one, this should do it I think" she raised her eyes for the first time from the plant and saw that a mud battle had occurred. She laughed for a minute and looked around. Some student were really having trouble planting puffapods. They really turned out to be the most adorable plants...it's not that hard!

She copied her homework down in a piece of parchment collected her working gloves, quill and homework paper and left the room waving at the professor and smiling. This was a pleasant lesson, apart from the mud fight of course.
