Um, there's a big difference between the Medal Of Honor that is given to military personnel in America and the Legion of Honor that France gives to every day people.

The Medal of Honor is for Military personnel who go above and beyond in their call of duty. This usually entails a very dangerous act that results in lives being saved. Sometimes, the person who receives the medal dies during this act, and so it is presented to a family member, but the medal is actually earned by the fallen.

The Legion of Honor was developed by Napoleon to encourage every day citizens (as well as military) to do their best. It's basically saying "Good job, now here's a cookie". And if you don't believe me here's a quote from the man who started it himself:

Quote:
(french phrase here) — "We call these children's toys, I know, it's been said already. Well, I replied that it's with such toys that one leads men." (The French word hochet means a child's rattle.) This has been often quoted as "It is with such baubles that men are led."
(baubles = trinkets).

So, don't expect her to be getting a Medal of Honor from the American's anytime soon, as that's not what it's for.
