More About My Character (family background, friends, etc.): Half-blood. Muggle father who is a professor at Oxford and witch mother who left when Lyra was 8. She is very shy and a bit of a know-it-all. Lyra didn't show any magical ability until she was almost 9, so she is very self-conscious and doubtful about her magical abilities.
