He just felt that something was...off with Evolette.
"I've been good," he said with a smile. He didn't want to bring up the fact that he was a little sad over this being his last year--he was still trying to maintain the mentality that if he didn't think about it, it wouldn't hurt so much when graduation day came. "Just kind of lying around the house all summer doing nothing...but it feels good to be back on the train and back to school," he admitted with a chuckle. She'd probably think he was a big nerd for that one.
"Well, last term towards the end of the year I was kind of focused on something else," he told her with a sheepish grin. "To be honest, I nearly failed herbology so I was kind of preoccupied with that," he explained. "So, how about you? Where have YOU been?" So, Cale was glad to be going back to school? She wasn't so sure how she felt about it herself, but seeing as she had spent the entire summer with Terry, that would be a bit awkward now, so she supposed it was a good thing to be going back. To their separate common rooms.
She made a face when he mentioned Herbology. "Eh, that is not one of my favorite classes either." she agreed, wrinkling her nose. She hadn't been in danger of failing, but she might as well have been for all that she cared about it.
Then something occurred to her, "Wait." she said, her lips turning down in a slight pout, "This is your last term isn't it? My little boy's all grown up." She thought about patting his head, but knew better than to mess up his hair. What was WITH everyone leaving her? First Nicholai, and now Cale? It was hardly fair.
Where had she been? No where in particular come to think of it. Their paths had just never crossed, and that is exactly what she told him, "Fate seems to like keeping us apart. You know the old saying 'Absence makes the heart grow fonder'? I can personally attest that it is true." She gave him a charming smile, pausing only for a moment to see if he was buying any of this. She couldn't very well mope around Hogwarts for the rest of the term, everyone would surely grow tired of that. |
