Emily hopped up the last few steps to the owlery, letters in hand. She looked around nervously for Davina. That owl was
not gonna bite her again this time. In her other hand, Emily clenched a treat in her fist. Just in case.
The snowy owl was perched at a window, gazing out onto the Hogwarts grounds with her amber eyes. "Davina," Emily called. The owl turned her head to look at her. Emily hesitated before beckoning Davina to come toward her. "Come on, Davina. Brad and Bridget are waiting."
In a blur of white, Davina flew down and landed on Emily's shoulder. Phew! That was easy enough. Emily unfolded her letters and read them over.

Emily refolded the letters and let Davina take them. Suddenly, her finger stung sharply. Davina had bitten her again. "Ow!" Emily said. "Go on and deliver those letters, Davina!" The snowy owl flapped her wings and flew out the window. Emily sighed.
