Rian was glad that her dad had chosen this time to send her a letter, because Rian needed to use Midnight to send a letter. She smiled to her black horned owl as she pulled her letter out of her pocket and reread it.

Dad,
Everything's going good, I've made tons of new friends, and I've even formally met some more staff members of the school.
The reason I'm writing though, is because I have a new best friend, Jennumara Blood. She saw the painting you painted of Lily and I, and she thought you were a great artist. I...kinda volunteered you to paint a picture for her. I hope it's not too much trouble. I was hoping you would just do it in your spare time.
Attatched is the photo Jenn wanted painted. It's a wizard photo, so it moves. I hope you can still use it, as it's Jenn's favorite.
Thanks so much, Dad. When you get back home, please be sure to give mum and Lily both my love and my good wishes. Tell them that everything's going alright with me and I'll write to mum as soon as she sends me Midnight back.
Love you, good luck.
♥ Rian
Oh, and I've already read my school books, so if you or mum have any books that you think I might like, please send them. I think the librarian's getting tired of me, I practically live in the library.
Rian nodded to herself and folded the letter back up, then tied it to Midnight's outstretched leg.
"Take it to Dad, please," she told the owl.
"I think he's somewhere in France....I think he wanted to paint something of the Eifle Tower." The owl gave something like a nod, nipped Rian's ear affectionately, and took off through the window. Rian watched until she was just a small black dot in the sky, then turned to leave the owlery.
