Chapter 25
Everyone grabbed someone else’s hand, and after a count of three, we were all being sucked through a black tube. Just when it felt like I would suffocate, we landed on a street. As I looked around, I fell over and stayed on the ground, dizzy.
“Now are we in Hogsmeade?” I asked. Looking around, I saw the Three Broomsticks, but I wanted to be sure. The other three nodded.
“Now what?” I asked, looking into the distance at the lights of Hogwarts.
“Now,” Harry said, “We destroy that. Then…I try to get away.”
“And we come with you.” Ron promised. Hermione and I nodded. I was glad
Harry wasn’t looking at me, he probably wouldn’t like it that I was planning on fighting with him.
He helped me up off the ground once the world stopped spinning below me. I thanked him, and looked down at my feet. I was mad at myself for not accepting Cissy’s offer to where her tennis shoes she had been wearing. My feet were not only dirty, they were scratched up from the roads I’d landed on and the things I’d been stepping on.
We walked slowly. I wanted to run all the way up to the castle, but the others said that we couldn’t. So I was impatient. I settled for lagging behind for a few seconds, and then running to catch up. And I’d do that again and again, until finally we were at the doors.
“How do we get up without them seeing us?” I asked. The cover of night had hidden us so far, but once we got into the castle, I was sure some Prefect, teacher, or kid that wasn’t supposed to be up would see us.
Harry shrugged, and I didn’t press that. When Ron asked what we were planning on doing, though, Harry replied.
“Well, I think we should see McGonagall and tell her we got you back, that we are here, and that there is a possibility of Battle.” I caught up with him and grabbed his hand. He gave me a small smile and we snuck up to the Headmistress office.
“Password?” asked the gargoyle.
“I don’t have time for a password! I’m Harry Potter, let me in! I need to see
McGonagall!” Harry whispered urgently. The gargoyle swung open and Harry started up the stairs, not waiting for them to spin upwards. Hermione, Ron and I followed behind him, just as quickly.
“Professor!” Harry called running into the Headmistress’ suite without knocking. McGonagall jumped and looked away from Dumbledore’s portrait.
“Potter!” she exclaimed sternly, looking around at her other guests. “And Weasley too? How did you-”
“Malfoy Mannor,” Harry cut in, breathing hard. “They had her locked in the cellar. We got away before anyone could get hurt. But I think Voldemort’s going to try to find me.” He said this in a rush, and continued just as fast. “We need to get into the Chamber of Secrets, and fast. Then we’ll leave. But in case we don’t get out in time, you’ll have to secure the students. Get them out, or something, I don’t know. What I do know, though, is this: Tonight will be the night that either Voldemort dies, or I die.”
