Basically, he did what Voldemort did 14 years earlier. The AK backfired an hit Harry. That's why Voldie said "touché".

Now as for Krysta and Caeleb...Krysta is the several thousand generations removed grandaughter of Khallindrae's daughter. (Caeleb's half sister).
It is a bit creepy. He's obsessed with his Mother's bloodline. Just try to remember that he's insane and she's kind of enchanted.
