This wasn't fair. There had been PLENTY of boys who had flirted with her when he wasn't around, and did she "fall prey" to them? No. She turned them down because she wanted him to be happy.
"The only thing that Hugo knows is that we had a summer fling and I left." she continued, stressing the "we" but not the "I", "He doesn't know we're together, no one really does, because we havent been together to show anyone that we are together. What Hugo doesnt know will work to our advantage."
Motherly? She was going soft. Ehhh. This was bound to happen eventually. She sighed, walking away from him and leaning against the wall, "You want to know the truth then?" she asked, crossing her arms, "Before I knew you were coming back, I flirted with Cale. Right in front of Anna. I laid it on thick because I knew she was one of the jealous types. But then, the more I talked to him, the more I felt like he could make a good friend, and I sort of felt bad for causing him so much strife."
She rolled her eyes in spite of herself. When had she gotten to soft? "They had a HUGE fight, and even though he denies it, I don't think they would have had it if it weren't for me."
Looking over at him, her expression changed slightly, "I just thought maybe that by helping him with his relationship problem- if someone would have helped us..." she trailed off, "I don't know. I guess this whole thing was stupid. Maybe I should just tell Cale that it is over with." Damn, she was right. As much as he hated to admit it. 'Even a nun convent would be better than this.' He grumbled, but then a picture of Evee in a nun's robes randomly floated into his mind and he had to press his lips hard together to not bubble out into laughter right there and then. Evee wouldn't last even two minutes out in a convent all alone.
JEEZ. Trust Evee to lay the charms on a guy who already had a girlfriend, just for the fun of it. But who was he to talk? As if he hadn't already done the same. -cough-
Argh, this really was all planned too well out. Plus, he was beginning to feel guilty. Evee actually wanted to help a guy out. Without any personal gain for herself. He almost wouldn't believe the situation.
Finally, he threw his arms up in annoyance, then unwillingly gave in, though his voice was low, intent and firm when he spoke, 'FINE. We're doing things your way this round. We're keeping things quiet around Hugo, Miles, everyone. You go help stupid Cale with his girlfriend problems.' He stepped closer towards her, leaning down over her as he brushed his lips lightly against hers, 'I'll keep quiet. And then when this whole thing's blown over, I want you back, and then we can go make it official to everyone else if that's what you want. Is that clear?' |
