Anna jumped back in surprise, clearly startled at how everyone seemed to jump out at once. Why on Earth were they all yelling? What had happened? It took her a minute to focus and register what was going on, and when it did, a smile quickly crept up on Anna's face. She looked from face to face to face. They all seemed to be here!
"You...threw me a suprise party?" Anna asked, astonished at all the hard work that had gone into planning this. "No one's ever thrown me a surprise party! I love you, guys!" She went around the room, hugging each person individually, thankful for the kindness they'd shown. They really knew how to cheer a girl up! "Thank you so much!"
That was when her eyes fell upon the cake in the middle of the room. Her eyes grew as wide as possible, and her smile got even bigger. "Oh my gosh," she whispered, too astonished to get any louder. "It's gorgeous!"

Cautiously sitting up just enough to peek over the top of the couch, he could see Anna as she was greeted by her party guests. Merlin, she looked pretty today. He sooooo wished he could go out there and hug her and give her a kiss to wish her a happy birthday, but that would mean they were back together, which they most definitely weren't. She hadn't noticed his curly hair from behind the couch, which he was thankful for--he was more content to just sit and watch the celebration from behind here, thank you very much.
She scanned the room and smiled at all her friends once again, her eyes stopping when she got to the couch. What was...it couldn't be...could it? Her smile faded, but only because she was too shocked to have any expression on her face. That hair, though. That hair was too familiar...too...
Cale. "He came," she whispered, so low no one in the room probably heard her.
She wasn't quite sure what to do. Leaping behind the couch and tackling him in hugs and a kiss was obviously out of the question. He was with Evolette now, and she...she was sort-of, kind-of, maybeeeee with Seth. What to do...what to do?
