That wasn't what struck him the most though; the young man was seated away from girls. Already a step up in his book.
Dominic swept a quick glance down the table and then back to the lone boy. "Mind if I sit here?" he asked charmingly, already stepping over the bench into the spot next to him.

Garret was relieved when another boy's voice interrupted his thoughts, only to be disturbed by something brushing his ear. And a girl's voice. He groaned mentally before turning to the girl with a grimace visible on his face.

No, not really. You girl.
But he quickly turned away from her again, before she started dragging him into a conversation about inane girly things. He looked over at the other boy and rolled his eyes (not that it could be seen under his hair), "Girls..." he muttered so just the boy could hear, "Always tryin' to find a way to get us to notice 'em."
