Cale, sensing the obvious discomfort and tension that had arisen at the table, cleared his throat. "Now that we're all in one house, and we have time to hang out and get to know each other better, we're all gonna be great friends,
right?" he asked, looking at the people at the table one by one, including Kingston in his glare of shame as well. He didn't want any fights starting. Nope. None at all. They could all play nice, yes? Right. It wasn't hard. Cale despised rude people, and wasn't about to have any in the house he was a prefect for.

"I'm sorry....?" She apologized dubiously and turned her head slightly to whisper to Bree. "Do you know what he's talking about?"
Putting the goblet down, Daphne raised her hands, eyes narrowed in thought. Quidditch. "Do you mean," she hesitated waving her hands slightly. "That game with the brooms and the flying balls of death?" Her parents had forced her to participate in the company's annual Quidditch match much to her dismay.
She didn't quite make it into the ten minute mark. Bludgers were remarkably fast, and hard, for someone whose only form of exercise was going down the staircase to the dining room and up the staircase to the bedroom. "I can't say I'm fond of it."
She prayed her Prefect wasn't fond of it but the truth seemed to taunt her from his curls and abnormal sideburns. It was in the hair it was, and she glance sideways at the goblet wondering if she should just pretend she never heard him in the first place.
"Erm, well, I wouldn't exactly call Bludgers flying balls of death, but yes," Cale said with a kind smile. Ok, so this girl obviously didn't like Quidditch nearly as much as he did. "I play Chaser, but we lost pretty badly last year," he added with a chuckle. "Do you come out to watch the games? You know, to show support for your house and all that jazz?" he chuckled.

Daphne Hopton was there with them too! He took a few steps closer, then paused. That guy was there... the one Raiden had seen crying all over Diagon Alley. Something about him just made the young boy a bit... nervous. He couldn't really peg it down, but... Daphne Hopton, and Cale Newell, and Anna Greingoth... he really wanted to talk to them. He fidgeted for a second before deciding. He wanted to talk to his friends. Smiling, he moved closer.
"Hi, Anna and Cale and Daphne Hopton!" he said happily, standing a few feet away. Didn't want to intrude too much, they might have been having a private conversation that he wasn't supposed to hear or something. "Mind if I stick with you for a while? No one's really... talkative... at the Slytherin Table..."
Cale looked up at the newcomer and found that it was that young Slytherin boy, Raiden...something, Cale wasn't very good with names. "Sure," he told him with a smile. "Join the party!"

Almost as soon as she finished speaking she blushed again, turning her ears red. She'd said too much. More than she'd meant to anyway. She hoped he wouldn't mind her speaking her opinion.
"What's Quidditch like?" she asked curiously before she could contain herself again. Her parents had mentioned Quidditch and given a basic overview but neither had been very interested in it during their school years.
At the word dating Bree flinched. Her? Date? She didn't feel the slightest inclination. Boys were not to fawned over. They were to be ignored where possible and at least not allowed not to distract one.
Schoolwork. Now there was a point. She had never really liked asking for help but maybe it would be a good idea to take her up on her offer. Also to her credit she wasn't a boy.
Now, Jason was complaining. Seemingly about her to Cale and Anna. She fidgeted. Maybe she should apologize. She really didn't want the prefects thinking she wasn't nice to people based on one almost conversation. She played with the idea some more and then swallowed again. "Sorry, Jason." she said not looking at him.
"Quidditch? I love it!" he replied, grinning broadly again. "Although Allie over there--" he pointed to the young Gryffindor second year along the table, "broke my nose last year during practice, she's beastly with her beaters bat," he joked. "We kind of lost to Slytherin last year and came in fourth, but hopefully we'll be much better this year. You thinking of trying out for the team?" he asked. They could always use fresh blood on the team.

Jillian turned to Jason. "Oh, my summer was really great. Me brother, Chuck, came home to visit us. Really fun having him around." she replied.
"Well then, I guess we'll be having the first real year at Hogwarts together." Jillian said brightly. "This'll be loads of fun now that we got boys in here, won't it, Daphne?"
Then Cale knocked down aa goblet, making Jillian giggle. "Well, goblet's fine. Must be authentic. You okay there, Daphne?"
"Thug boy?" Jillian asked. You didn't tell me you had adventures!" any mention of a word related to mischief always sparked interest with Jillian. "You got to tell me all about him."
And back to Ms. Etiquette who was almost frozen when the goblet fell and juice was on the bench. Daphne was a very interesting person to observe.
"Yeah, like I said...it happens alot," Cale chuckled, blushing as he admitted to his insane clumsiness. "Tripping over things, knocking people over, spilling stuff, falling down...it's all in a days work for me!"

Taking an unfortunate sip of water at that very moment, Cale almost choked on his drink, coughing and sputtering as his eyes started watering. "Professor, did you say Cassandra Trelawney is the new nurse intern...person?" he asked, eyes widening in shock. What, had seven years of torturing students and over abusing her prefect badge not been enough? She had to come back and torment them some more? AHHHH!
It was official. Cale was never going to the hospital wing this term. Ever. Even if he broke an arm or something. He could just picture her docking him for being clumsy...and with him, he'd probably lose them the house cup if that was the case. It wasn't that he was scared of her, of course--he just disliked her immensely, mainly because the
one time he talked to her, she accused him of being a horrible prefect and suggested
screamed that he turn in his badge.

She looked down at the smooth bench, and then seaid loudly, "ASTRID! LOOK FORKS AND KNIVES! AND FEEL THIS BENCH ITS SMOOTH! NO SPLINTERS! WERE AT HOGWARTS!"
Now someone was screaming. Gah. Cale did NOT need anymore screaming. He rolled his eyes, but then he noticed who was screaming and why. It was Allie, clearly ecstatic about finally being at Hogwarts. He didn't blame her--he had been like that a minute ago. "Allie!" he called, waving at his friend from down the table.
