UPDATE: A new statement from Alan Horn, Warner Bros. president and chief operating officer has emerged;
Quote:
"The picture is completely, absolutely, 100 percent on schedule, on time. There were no delays. I've seen the movie. It is fabulous. We would have been perfectly able to have it out in November."
thanks for the update Em!
well this further confirms that the delay is a financial reason. also i noticed that the sudden decision fell during the 3rd quarter of this year, right around the time that companies usually do their financial reports and see if they're gonna end the year with a profit or a loss. i'm guessing WB realized that they will have a very merry christmas this year, but saw the famine that will be 2009, hence the hasty decision with HBP.

WTF is WB thinking?
(So July is a better time? Well yeah before Christmas has got to be the worst time for a family film to come out!
Could it be that WB has other films coming out in November and doesnt want HP to be competition for them?)
no that isnt the reason behind the HP delay. they were pretty forthcoming with their reasons as listed above. -- although its obvious that the spinmeisters have been through them.

I was so excited for the movie & I was counting down the days till November
Thinking about it twice though, I think pushing it back to Summer of '09 is a good idea. It's gonna be huge & it's gonna be a major success especially during the summer when everyone goes to the movie theater.
this is exactly what WB is hoping for.

i think they're addressing the rumors that the reason for the HBP delay was because it wasnt ready to unspool in November. which i doubt. they've stopped shooting sometime May, they'd surely have enough time to finish the VFX what with an army of graphics artists getting things done on schedule.

Twilight is not a WB movie.
