Too Right, it was mentioned and believed that Voldemort killed Regulas: (Sirius mentions it in OOTP)

But in DH, Kreacher reveals that Regulas' death was a little more than suicide in the cave. (Providing Kreacher was telling the truth)

Voldemort Does not Kill Regulas: it was an Il-Informed Misconception by the main Charactars. (Nice work JKR)
