Miles, who was clinging to Sylvia, was sat on Lia's sofa. Sylvia was smiling up at both of them, enjoying the whole thing where as Miles was frozen like someone had just put him in the freezer for a few hours. They were both staring at Lia, who was sat opposite the two in an armchair.
"Well, Sylvia found me." Lia tried to lighten up the mood, but it wasn't working. Miles was slowly getting angrier and angrier at this woman. Sylvia giggled and tried to get out of Miles' grip, but he didn't let her.
"Why are you in Lacock? Why didn't you bother come visit us?" Miles asked, not moving, apart from his lips when speaking. Ophelia sighed and looked at the ground. "I'm not here usually, when..." She stopped for a second and took a deep breath. "...I left, I moved quite far away, But I love the village, and I didn't want to be to far away from you."
"To be honest..." Miles started. "I don't know how you could live in a village where your family, that you abandoned live just up the road." He said angrily. He wasn't going to cry, or grovel for her to come back. At the moment, he hated her. All the trouble that she caused, making his dad depressed and making Sylvia refuse to speak. Ophelia felt her eyes starting to well up, she tried her best not to cry.
"Miles, you have to understand that me and your dad were not getting on and I couldn't take it anymore."
"Why didn't you take us with you?"
"I was stressed. I couldn't handle a 3 year old and an 8 year old." She sighed, wiping her eyes.
"It doesn't matter!" Miles was standing up now, he had let go of Sylvia. "If you loved your children enough you would take them with you!" He shouted. Sylvia was still on the sofa. She curled her legs up to herself and pressed her nose against her knees. She wasn't expecting Miles to shout.
"You'd just left me and Sylvia with dad who is is angry all the time and doesn't care about us!"
"Rose."
Miles calmed down a bit and looked puzzled. "What?"
"Rose. She's not called Sylvia, she's called Rose." Ophelia sniffed and wiped another tear. Miles sat back down and stared at his mother.
"No. She's called Sylvia, she's always been called that." He said really quietly. Sylvia leaned in so she could listen better. Her name was Rose? This was great.
"She's called Rose Sylvia Ophelia Parker. I presume your father changed it when I left and swapped the two names around."
"Why though?" Miles asked, Sylvia ... or Rose was very interested by this. But she understood why her father changed the names, it reminded him of mum.
"I don't know. He's always preffered the name Sylvia to Rose, where as I prefer the name Rose. Maybe he thought, now that I had gone, he could change it."
Miles didn't understand this at all. Both of his parents weren't good enough to look after him and Sylvia. One dealt with her problems by running away, and the other by yelling at his eldest child.
"Can you come back?" Said ... Sylvia?! She spoke so quietly it had to be a silent room for you to hear her. Both Mrs Parker and Miles looked at her in shock.
"You spoke." Miles said just as quietly as Sylvia spoke. Sylvia curled up in her ball again and pretended to not hear him. Miles turned back to his mum and folded his arms. "Are you going to answer that?"
"I can't. Your father hates me." She looked at the floor. "He's always hated me." She said, her eyes still fixed on the floor. Miles felt upset and angry, how could she live with herself? He'd had enough already, he grabbed Sylvia by the hand and headed for the door.

Sylvia didn't argue this time. She kept hold of Miles' hand as they both walked towards their home. She didn't try to pull away or run back to her mother's part time home. Miles knew that Sylvia was angry too, at their mother. Who cares about all the arguing his parents had did? Miles just wanted a big happy family, like everyone else had. Why was he the one with the torn apart family? Sylvia didn't seem to mind, or atleast Miles didn't think so.

For Merlin's sake Slyvia! Speak!
