"Yeah, the Arithemancy professor is the only teacher so far from the Ministry who has actually taught the subject. But he has terrible foot odor! This one Slytherin tried to get him to stand near me and stalled by asking a question, but it totally backfired on him and he lost himself some points," he explained with a grin. He felt somewhat proud of that. It didn't pay to be sneaky, did it?
"Owwww!" he exclaimed, rubbing his arm. "Anna, you punch hard!" he laughed. It was true. This was...what, the second time he had punched him and the second time it was going to leave a bruise?
"Ouch, that hurt," he said playfully, grabbing his heart with a grin. "And here I was expecting a whole herd of Newell's, and Markus' and Caleb's too!"
He blushed. Whoops. He hadn't told her his full name before. He looked at his hands and chuckled a little. Maybe she didn't notice his little slip. Or maybe she had already figured it out.
To his relief, she hugged him back, and he rested his head on her shoulder, for just a second before lifting it off and leaning back against the wall. And hitting his head. Again.
"Geez, what the heck?" he muttered, rubbing his head and glaring at the wall, like he suspected that it were responsible for his clumsiness today.
"Well, I'm glad you're okay then" she said. "We wouldn't want our star beater benched for tryouts tomorrow, would we?" She couldn't wait for tryouts tomorrow. She was excited for the game, sure, but she was really excited to practice with Cale and see how he played. She hoped they both made the team!
"Ewww! Foot odor!" she exclaimed, wrinkling her nose up a bit! What was up with the men professors? They all had some weird fetish or something. "I can't say we have any of that going on! Our ministry professors just like to sing...and eat cookies...and giggle," she explained. "I'm proud of you for helping the snake to lose points!"
"Sorry!" she exclaimed, as she looked down at the spot she'd just punched. Without thinking, she kissed the palm of her hand, then touched her palm to his arm. "There. I kissed it and made it all better!" she giggled. She couldn't believe she'd just done that. She wondered how long he would sit there before he got up and made a run for it.
Then, unless he was seriously delusional and dreaming it, he laid his head on her shoulder for just a moment. It made her realize more and more that she really liked this boy, and she could never have him. All too soon, the moment was gone.
She sighed and threw her head back, accidentally banging it against the same wall Cale had just hit...again. "Ow! Caleb Markus Newell!" she exclaimed. "I can't believe I just did that!"
And, hey, she really liked his full name...
