"Yeah, I guess the singing is a lot better than what you boys had to go through," she said, shaking her head again at the thought. "I'd definitely stay away from that man! Did anyone check his fingernails? I bet they weren't a pretty picture. Anyway, the whole lesson was unnecessary."
She giggled and yanked by her pictures as he made jokes about it. "Cale!" she shrieked, punching him on the arm playfully. "See if I ever show you one of my pictures again!" She was only joking, of course. She just liked to tease him about it.
"Don't laugh about my horse!" she exclaimed. "Newell and I got 10 points for volunteering to be the first flyers! Well, Newell didn't, but he sure helped our cause!" She leaned in and hugged him back when he gave her the one arm hug. They were doing that a lot lately. Not that she was complaining, though. She was perfectly fine with it, thank you very much.
Cale felt himself tense up as she brushed a few pieces of dirt out of it. Ohmigosh, she was touching his hair! "Um, thanks for that," he muttered, blushing deeply. "I'm fine," he assured her, rubbing the back of his head.
"Yeah, the Arithemancy professor is the only teacher so far from the Ministry who has actually taught the subject. But he has terrible foot odor! This one Slytherin tried to get him to stand near me and stalled by asking a question, but it totally backfired on him and he lost himself some points," he explained with a grin. He felt somewhat proud of that. It didn't pay to be sneaky, did it?
"Owwww!" he exclaimed, rubbing his arm. "Anna, you punch hard!" he laughed. It was true. This was...what, the second time he had punched him and the second time it was going to leave a bruise?
"Ouch, that hurt," he said playfully, grabbing his heart with a grin. "And here I was expecting a whole herd of Newell's, and Markus' and Caleb's too!"
He blushed. Whoops. He hadn't told her his full name before. He looked at his hands and chuckled a little. Maybe she didn't notice his little slip. Or maybe she had already figured it out.
To his relief, she hugged him back, and he rested his head on her shoulder, for just a second before lifting it off and leaning back against the wall. And hitting his head. Again.
"Geez, what the heck?" he muttered, rubbing his head and glaring at the wall, like he suspected that
it were responsible for his clumsiness today.
