Jake took the wand for a moment, checking it quickly and thoroughly before handing it back to the woman. He then tapped the gift with his wand. He nodded, not finding anything wrong with it.
He waited patiently while she looked like she forgot something, before remembering she still had to give him her invitation. Taking it quickly, he scanned the information.
'
Thank you. If you'd like to proceed to the gift table and the guest book and memory pensieve.' He gestured in their direction.

He decided, and because he seemed to have done most of the work so far, to use this opportunity to creep away for a bit and have a look in on the reception. Maybe have a sneaky firewhiskey or two when his bosses’ backs were turned. Why should the Law Department miss out on all the fun, eh? Especially as their presence here thus far, been completely unnecessary.
As Jake was attending to the people in line, Nathan seized his chance and headed off towards the reception. He was pretty sure the man wouldn't want his company anyway.
Out of the corner of his eye, Jake could see Nathan, but paid him no attention at the moment as he slipped his wand back into his pocket, waiting to see if any more stragglers decided to show.
